Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Administrative Services Senior Manager,
the Receiving and Distribution Technician I is responsible for
inventory control and supporting the daily operations of the
Information Distribution Receiving Center (IDRC) activities.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Receiving, opening, sorting, and distributing incoming and outgoing
mail/supplies/packages. Collecting outgoing mail for all Public
Health locations. Tracking and monitoring items on purchase
requisitions/purchase orders for discrepancies through agency
provided software, maintaining records of packing slips, and
providing notice of assets requiring tagging. Ensuring proper
postage and cost centers are assigned to outgoing mail. Recording
special delivery of mail as needed.
Loading and unloading vehicles. Driving agency provided vehicle to
deliver or pickup mail and/or equipment and completing deliveries
on a timely basis to Public Health locations. Obtaining signatures
for deliveries, when required, and scanning packing slip into
software application. Maintaining agency fleet management database
for required maintenance.
Maintaining accurate inventory control records for stock movement,
physical count, and pricing. Updating inventory database as
required and maintaining receipt log for all deliveries. Queries
inventory database for cost and availability information.
Transporting supplies, boxes, and equipment to other departments or
agency sites.
Interacting with agency personnel and public/clients in person,
through telecommunications, and/or counter service by answering
questions regarding mailing processes, receiving incoming
deliveries and outgoing mail, and distribution of packages and/or
mail. Ensuring outgoing items are provided to the appropriate
shipping/mailing source.
Demonstrating both individual and departmental accountability by
establishing and maintaining accurate, legible, appropriate, and
thorough records. Providing reports as requested.
Is an active participant in professional growth through attendance
at meetings, trainings, workshops, self-instructional courses, and
webinars. Supports PHDMC and Office goals, mission, vision, values,
and objectives through daily tasks, emergency response support, and
special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
Basic computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Office (Outlook,
Word, and Excel).
Basic mathematic skills, attention to detail, and excellent
organizational skills.
Ability to lift and carry over 50lbs.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and
in writing.
Understands and acknowledges that Public Health - Dayton &
Montgomery County uses evidence-based and evidence-informed public
health practices based on scientific research including health
promotion theory and practice, environmental health measures, and
communicable disease control measures including vaccination,
isolation, and quarantine practices, and medicine for treatment and
prevention of disease, among others.
Understands and acknowledges the use of tobacco or nicotine
products in any form including replacement therapy products and
prescription medications used to treat smoking addiction for anyone
hired after January 1, 2014, is prohibited.
Required to play an active role during a public health emergency,
crisis, outbreak, incident, or event in which the Health
Commissioner deems additional personnel resources are warranted.
This may include changes in responsibilities and working
locations/hours.
Completion of Incident Command System 100 and National Incident
Management System 700 courses within 90 days of hire.
Valid State of Ohio driver's license and insurance on any personal
vehicle that will be used for work.
