Job Description:

Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner to work within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, C4N, in partnership with the College of Medicine Center to plan, organize, implement and coordinate care of patients on clinical research protocols; works under supervision of practicing licensed physician; determines patient eligibility, meets one-on-one with patients to complete the consent process, and communicates frequently with physicians, investigators and staff to optimize the study flow; enters orders into IHIS as needed; evaluates patients for clinical complications related to protocol; assesses patient reaction to any modifications or treatment that are part of the protocol; identifies and documents adverse reactions; communicates with IRB and outside sponsors (as needed) regarding adverse reactions; participates in the collection and analysis of research data; provides education and direction for protocol compliance; assists in collection and distribution of blood samples; performs clinical research procedures as dictated by the approved protocol in accordance with current licensure; monitors care and ensures proper follow-up including providing incidental finding results on laboratory or imaging tests; collects and enters data on case report forms or in study database; assists in developing plans to meet requirements of new studies/protocols; prepares for external quality assurance and control review. Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/DesiredMasters Degree in nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience; graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing required; current license and certificate of authority to practice as a certified nurse practitioner from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing required; certification as an adult nurse practitioner preferred; considerable experience in a clinical research capacity preferred; computer literacy required with knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications desired; clinical research certification from SoCRA or ACRP desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
